UUP office closes in Dromore

Ulster Unionist councillors Olive Mercer and Carol Black have been sending out the message they are still available and working for constituents in the area, since their office in Princes Street, Dromore closed its doors.

The UUP office, which was opened in August 2013 by party leader Mike Nesbit, closed on July 1.

Funding for local constituency offices normally comes through an MLA or MP but in the case of Dromore it was supported by local branches, who had found this commitment to be no longer possible.

Councillor Olive Mercer said: ““It was good to be in Dromore, and we hope to have a presence again in the near future.

“The office closure does not change anything though - we are still councillors in Banbridge District Council and we are still working for our constituents.

“We are here to answer queries and help in any way we can.

“If people want to reach me, I am more than happy to receive calls.”

Anyone wishing to reach cllr Mercer can contact her on mobile number 07734 729728 and Cllr Black on 07825 271227.
