UPDATE: MISSING TODDLER MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO SCOTLAND

POLICE and Social Services searching for a missing toddler who was living in Banbridge believe her parents may have taken her to Scotland yesterday.

The child has been named as 17 month old girl Sophie Anderson, while police say they are looking for 30 year old Lucy Anderson and 22 year Stuart Creaney, Sophie's parents.

Police and Social Services are concerned for Sophie's welfare. Sophie was collected as normal from premises on Scarva Street in Banbridge at 10.20am on Monday morning to be taken to a mother and toddler's group.

The pair did not attend the group and it's understood they then travelled to Belfast where they boarded the 11.45am sailing to Stranraer. Police believe Sophie's father Stuart boarded the 7.30am sailing earlier that morning.

Police services across the UK have been alerted and are assisting the PSNI with this investigation.

Sophie is described as having dark, wavy hair and was wearing a cream John Rocha top with rusty coloured flowers, cream jeans with pink flowers and pink Doodles shoes. She may also have been wearing a yellow coat and was in a pink pushchair.

Lucy Anderson is described as approximately 5ft 5in or 5ft 6in tall with a flushed complexion, a protruding lower lip and dark, straight hair parted in the middle. She speaks with a strong Derry accent and was wearing jeans and a grey coloured hoodie.

Stuart Creaney is described as being boyish looking with auburn, wavy hair and a light beard. When seen at the ferry terminal he was wearing a black coat with a red hooded top underneath and was carrying a boxed TV, a black rucksack and pulling a black suitcase.

Police are appealing to Lucy and Stuart to return Sophie to her carers as soon as possible or contact social services, close family or police.

Anyone who believes they may have seen Sophie or her parents or know of their whereabouts is urged to to contact police immediately on 0845 600 8000.
