Exploring the themes of temporality, identity and authenticity in both personal and communal ways, it brings together three of Ireland’s leading female sculptors, Ursula Burke, Emma Donaldson and Deirdre McKenna.

Each artist has taken different approaches in response to the statement ‘The Past is Unpredictable’.

Emma Donaldson’s minimalist constructions of papier-mâché, cardboard, wood and fabric, mark a shift from her previous style and are rich with connections to emotion and memory.

Much of Ursula Burke’s work deals with issues of representation and identity within contemporary Ireland. She uses fine and decorative art forms such as embroidery and fine parian porcelain sculpture.

Deirdre McKenna often describes what she does as ‘painting’, be that with LED lights, artificial grass or fusing plastic objects together.

The Past is Unpredictable runs from May 31 to August 17 2014. For further information call 4062 3322 or visit www.femcwilliam.com.
