Unemployment drop in Upper Bann

Recent unemployment figures have shown a steady decline in people claiming unemployment benefits throughout the Upper Bann Constituency with the rate has reduced to 4.6%.

Local MP David Simpson has paid tribute to all employers throughout the constituency for their determination to survive.

Mr Simpson said, “I was very pleased to hear that unemployment rates had again fallen in Upper Bann. This is real evidence of how the business community in Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown is determined to survive.

“I meet regularly with business owners and I know only too well the pressures they face. I admire their consistent resolve to push through to sustain jobs and keep businesses afloat.

“I must also thank the local people without their support and willingness to do business locally our economy would not survive. In tandem business and consumers are the driving force of our economy and locally we should be very proud of our achievements.
