McNamara’s up forauction with 175keuro asking price

THE former McNamara’s Hotel in Moville is up for auction with a reserve asking price of just 175k euros, it’s been revealed.

The Caiseal Mara Hotel on Foyle Street in the Inishowen village is being auctioned on October 15.

Other lots going under the hammer include a 26 acre freehold plot of land at Drumkeen near Convoy (asking price 30k euro) and a two bedroom apartment in Lower Main Street, Letterkenny (asking price 12k euro).

Earlier this year the Bay View Hotel in Killybegs was amongst the lots at an Allsops auction.

Now the firm is auctioning another prime Donegal hotel.

It says: “The property comprises a semi detached hotel arranged over ground and first floors to the front, and ground and four uppers to the rear.

“Internally the property is arranged to provide forty eight bedrooms, together with reception area and lobby, lounge area, two function rooms (Lough Foyle Suite and Carrowmena Suite), restaurant (Kinnego Restaurant), bar (Quay Bar), kitchen and customer toilets. The property has one eight passenger lift (not tested).”

The auction house also goes out of its way to sell the charms of Moville - a former stomping ground of Field Marshal Montgomery and his family - to potential buyers.

“The property in part has views over Lough Foyle. Greencastle approximately 5km to the north east provides a car ferry service to Magilligan, which is turn provides access to the popular tourist attraction of the north coast.

“Leisureland, Ireland’s largest heated indoor amusement centre, is located in Redcastle approximately 6km to the south west.

“There are several beaches in close proximity to the property, together with a small fishing harbour,” it says.
