Tyrone motorist caught at over 110mph was ‘on way home to feed cattle’

A professional driver from Caledon has been fined £400 after he was clocked by police driving at speeds between 110mph and 119mph.

Cormac Joseph McManus, 41, from Derrycourtney Road, was spotted by a police patrol as he left the village of Aughnacloy on the evening of September 8.

Police had to pull alongside the defendant to signal him to stop, Dungannon Court heard.

When spoken to by the officers, McManus said he was going home to feed the cattle.

His lawyer described the speed as “grossly excessive” and said McManus was a professional driver by way of a living. Six penalty points were also imposed.
