The Tuesday Chat... with Neil McCracken

BANBRIDGE Academy pupil Neil McCracken spent a few days last week on work experience with the Leader. While he describes himself as devoted and punctual, he also admits to being prone to the odd fashion disaster. The Man United fan hopes to become a sports journalist one day but, failing that he would like to step into the shoes of golfer Rory McIlroy. Which three words describe you? Ehh...Wild, not in a bad way! Devoted, loyal to whatever I belong to and always will find time to attend any issue. Punctual would be another attribute.

What are your memories of growing up in Banbridge (district)? Well, attending school is an obvious highlight but also having the craic with the ‘bais’ after school in the local area is another memory. Growing up in the rural surroundings of Rathfriland has offered me with many memories such as hanging out with my mates playing football and trying to play golf.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema and what was it like? The Iron Lady...Margaret Thatcher and all that...

What is your biggest fear? Getting old, the opportunities to do things as I would have done in childhood are not possible!

If you were stranded on a desert island what three things could you not do without and why? My Manchester United top, to give me hope in the face of adversity. Pictures of some description, to give me comfort and a matress, so I can sleep as much as possible!

Describe your dream job: Sports journalist, getting the chance to report and watch the best sports personnel in the world and getting free access to witness it!

How would you spend your perfect day? Getting a lie-on in the morning, get something to eat, relax and go out with mates for a day’s craic.

If you could be someone famous for the day who would you be and why? Rory McIlroy. Why? You have got the money, the woman and the talent, what else do you want!

What was your worst fashion disaster? Everytime I walk out the door!

If you won a million pounds what would you do with it? Buy a flash car, get a flash house and then retire, with the extra money to spend on whatever I want...

In an ideal world where would you be and what would you be doing in five years time? Hopefully quallified in some department and heading to Old Trafford to report on the best team in Manchester, England and the World!

Tell us a joke: Did you hear about the Magic Tractor? It went down the road and turned into a field!......I know it’s very old.

What’s your favourite holiday destination and why? Barcelona - Nice weather, lifestyle and opportunity to watch the second best team in the world.

Where is your favourite place locally to go for a night out? Those who know me will understand where I stand on going out, especially locally!!
