Tributes paid after death of young man

Brian Finegan (28), who was a former student at New Bridge Integrated College died last Thursday evening (August 7).

Police have confirmed they are investigating a possible drugs link and have appealed for the local community to come forward with any information.

Requiem Mass for Brian was held in St.Patricks Church on Sunday (August 9) followed by burial in St Patrick‘s Cemetery.

Tributes were posted to his Facebook page, led by his sister, who said he had “so much to look forward to”.

His sister added: “Our Brian was one of the best.

“He had so much to look forward to, my baby brother I miss him so much.”

Local people described him as a “very nice young man” who was “well-liked” as tributes continued to flood in.

One of his cousins added: “Best cousin ever sleep tight”, and “always in everyone’s hearts, rest in peace”.

Many people also took time to leave a message about Mr Finegan’s death on the Leader’s Facebook page.

Michelle Copeland said: “R.I.P Brian. You were more than a cousin to me but more like a son at times.

“Will miss our chats and random calls.

“Sleep tight our angel I know you’ll be watching over us all.” Sandra Mawhinney Gourley said: “Such a shame that Banbridge has lost another young life.

“People know who these dealers are and they need to speak up now and rid our town of drugs.”

Stephanie Morton wrote: “You will be missed terribly. Good friend and would do anything for anyone.

“Such a shame you left so soon.

Whoever is responsible for the drugs will be found in time.”

Leah Doherty commented: “Brian was such a nice man to be around, so caring, true gentleman and would do anything for anyone. He will be very sadly missed.”

Amy Bell added: “So sad Brian always had a smile on his face such a sad loss of a young life.”
