Club Chairman Billy Martin, “This is our twentieth anniversary Rally and Grand Auction. In attendance we are expecting Leslie Hanna who will use his beautiful horses to provide horse and cart rides along with displays of threshing by Harry McCullough and George Walker will be demonstrating the skill of baling.

“Davy Herron the blacksmith might well be shoeing horses on the day too. There will be numerous other displays that illustrate the yesteryear way of life and the farm machinery that was the technical tour de force of its day.

People should be able to watch bread and butter being made, and who knows, they might even get to grab a sample as well.

“Children’s amusements should include a bouncy castle, slides and bungee run. Big Fred, who collects the entrance fee, hopes to have some brown pullets on display and for sale.

“Car booters and stalls are welcome and a Grand Auction will take place with all the proceeds from this and the rally being divided as usual between Marie Curie Cancer Care and Chest Heart & Stroke. I am expecting a great interest in the auction this year as we have some very exciting items including, an iron horse, a Trusty tractor, Allen’s Scythe, a power drive lawnmower, a doll’s house, brand new children’s pool and football tables to name but a few, along with a wonderful selection of brand new furniture.

“With such an important milestone this year I am making an appeal for people to come along and support us, to make this year the biggest and best yet.”

Mr. Martin went on to say that he was very proud that much of the money collected on the day is divided equally between Marie Curie and Chest Heart & Stroke.

He said, “Thanks to the very generous support of those who attend our rally both as visitors and exhibiters along with all our sponsors, they have made it possible for us present many thousands of pounds to charity over these past twenty years; and to them all I say a very sincere thank you.

Displays will be ongoing throughout the day with the Grand Auction beginning around 1pm.
