Tributes to Adrian after sudden death

A WELL-KNOWN Banbridge man who died suddenly last week has been described as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Adrian Marley was just 55 years old when he passed away last Tuesday, to the great shock and sadness of his wife Jenny and children Adam and Anna.

Jenny, who runs the Patrisse Cafe in Newry Street, said her husband had been admitted to hospital just two days before with an abscess on his tonsils but died of a heart attack on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Leader, the devastated widow paid tribute to her husband of 31 years.

“We are just completely shattered by this,” said Jenny. “His popularity is obvious from the number of people who’ve visited this house over the last week. I can’t begin to thank my neighbours, family and friends for their support.”

Jenny said her husband, who was a member of Banbridge tennis club and the town’s Chamber of Commerce, was loved most by his family and especially his beloved two year-old granddaughter Ella.

“My husband squeezed thirty years of love into the two years he had with his only granddaughter - I can say that from my heart,” said Jenny.

“He was never grandad, he was always ‘Pops’ in our house and he spent a lot of time with her. He absolutely doted on her.”

Adrian’s funeral was held in St Therese Church on Friday and Jenny extended her thanks to close friends and family as well as the many traders in the town who had offered support at such a difficult time.
