A public prosecutor started to outline the background of the offences.

He said that the injured party had been waiting for an Ulsterbus from Banbridge to Newry and the defendant, who was intoxicated, was there.

As she was getting on the bus he touched her on the shoulder from behind using the flat of his hand.

At this point in the case District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, asked for the defendant’s solicitor and the public prosecutor to approach the bench.

After a short discussion the judge adjourned the case until August 25.
