Took a call on her mobile while driving

While driving a 63-year-old woman received a call on her mobile phone and answered it without thinking.

Finola Greene, Connywary Lane, Poyntzpass, was fined £60 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for using her phone while driving.

She was also given three points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

For not having a driving licence he was given an absolute discharge and three concurrent points.

The court heard that on March 4 this year at 10.30am on the Poyntzpass Road, Loughbrickland, police saw her using a phone.

When they spoke to her she was asked to produce her licence.

It later transpired she had a Northern Ireland licence and an American licence, both of which had expired.

A solicitor representing the defendant said she had since got a licence.

He added that she had received a call on her phone and took it without thinking.
