The early birdcatches the worm

Everyone is invited to meet at Portmore Lough nature reserve outside Aghalee for 6am on Saturday to listen to the birds welcome the new day in fine voice.

Expert guidance from warden Amy Burns will help you identify which birds you can hear during the dawn chorus – from tree sparrows to spotted flycatchers, song thrush to sedge warblers.

You’ll also be able to explore the nature reserve, which is home to all sorts of wonderful wildlife including Irish hares, and there will be craft activities on offer for children.
