Street Scene process for the town

Banbridge Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has worked with the Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI) and the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) to develop elements for a ‘Street Scene’ project.

Using in a wide range of scenarios, this project aims to explore issues that impact on feelings of safety within local communities as well as engage young people in discussion about current issues that affect them.

Banbridge PCSP Chairman Councillor Junior McCrum commented, “The PCSP is delighted to be able to co-ordinate this project which has brought together the vision for a social action project by the SELB Banbridge Youth Council and the skills of people employed through the Restore project.

“The project will be presented to local post-primary principals as part of a PCSP portfolio for potential delivery in the new academic year starting in September 2014.

“But it could equally be used by other statutory and local partners or community groups to discuss community safety issues and look at practical ways to resolve them.”

Shauneen Lenzi PBNI area manager added, “Community service supervised by the Probation Board works to benefit the individual and the community. I am delighted that the partnership work through the PCSP and Restore in Banbridge shows communities can directly reflect the benefits of offenders’ contributions through voluntary work.”
