destroying community’ say PUP

The Banbridge branch of the Progressive Unionist Party have condemned the graffiti which appeared outside a nursery on the Rathfriland Road last week.

In a previous edition of the Leader we reported how loyalist slogans had been daubed on the fence outside Child’s Play Nursery.

This followed on from several earlier incidents in the surrounding area.

A spokesperson for the PUP said, “This mindless act of vandalism needs to stop, and that goes for all graffiti regardless of which section of the community it comes from.”

“The community doesn’t want to see this type of behaviour which only serves to degrade the local area.

“We call on those responsible to desist immediately and engage positively in your community rather than destroy it.”

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it or other similar incidents to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The spokesperson added, “Alternatively you can contact and get assistance from Banbridge PUP.”
