Michael Joseph Martin Graham, Edenderry Gardens, Banbridge, admitted stealing the item from the Around a Pound shop in the town on August 21 last year.

The court heard he was seen on CCTV putting the item into his pocket and leaving the shop without paying. The frame was returned and was fit for sale.

A barrister representing Graham said it was a low value item and the defendant accepted responsibility.

He added that in recent times Graham had served a considerable prison sentence and there could be issues with his licence.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, told the defendant he was a thief who seemed to think he could help himself to anything when it suited him.

But he was prepared to give Graham a chance bearing in mind he had been in jail for a considerable period of time.
