Deirdre O’Hare, Rathmount, Blackrock, Louth, admitted the theft of clothing valued at £100 from Jaegar and GAP at the Outlet in Banbridge on March 22 this year.

She was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard she left the store with clothing without offering them for payment.

Her car registration was noted and a short time later she was stopped by police. The vehicle was searched and the items, three tops, were found.

O’Hare made a full admission during interview and was remorseful. The clothing was returned to the shop and was fit to be sold.

A barrister representing the defendant said that up until November of last year she had a clear record.

He added she had alcohol difficulties and was engaging with counselling services.

The barrister said she would apologise for her behaviour but could not provide any explanation why it happened.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said she was given an opportunity in November to put all this behind her but here she was repeating this behaviour.

He added that the court’s patience was not endless.
