St Patrick's Day at Slemish

EACH year, numbers visiting Slemish Mountain on St Patrick's Day have grown dramatically with over 3000 people visiting the beauty spot for this annual event.

Following on from previous years, Ballymena Borough Council are once again providing alternative parking arrangements. A park and Ride service between Slemish Mountain and the car parks at Buckna Presbyterian Church, Buckna Gospel Hall and the ecos centre on the outskirts of Ballymena. Park & Ride services will run continually from ecos and the Buckna car parks between 9am and 2pm with the last coach departing from Slemish at 4.00pm. Please note there is a small charge for this service.

Disabled badge holders only will be allowed to park at Slemish car park (limited spaces available) and no parking will be permitted along the Carnstroan Road or the Carnstroan Lane approach to the Mountain.

An enjoyable programme of activities is available at the ecos centre throughout the day from 12.30 noon – 4.30pm including story telling and traditional music. Visitors will be able to enjoy some traditional Irish fayre at the ecos caf and enjoy a range of children’s activities.

This event has received financial support from the Community Relations Unit, OFMDFM and Ballymena Borough Council’s Good Relations Unit and community support from the PSNI, Ballykeel Environmental Action Team (BEAT) and Buckna Presbyterian Church and Buckna Gospel Hall.

Please note:

• All traffic must adhere to parking procedures.

• No dogs or alcohol permitted on all coaches, car parks at Ecos, Slemish and Buckna.

• IMPORTANT: Suitable clothing and footwear (for ankle protection) to be worn. Trainers not recommended

• Children must be supervised at all times
