Sponsor launch sets scene for festival

The recent announcement of event sponsors helped weave an air of anticipation into the fabric of the looming Linenfields Festival in Banbridge.

The inaugural festival is due to take place later in the summer, but there was a taster for shoppers milling around Newry Street as Clubworld Travel was unveiled as titled sponsor.

Lord Mayor, Councillor Darryn Causby, joined Elvis impersonator Jim Brown, Linenfields committee representatives and Clubworld staff to celebrate the upcoming festival.

The event is due to take place in the grounds of the Bannville House Hotel on August 21&22.

The opening night of the festival is to be given over to ‘American Legends’, with ‘Ireland’s top Elvis’ just one of a number of tribute acts channeling Stateside legends like Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond.

The second night will culminate with Nathan Carter, currently number one in the Irish charts, supported by Hugo Duncan and Friends.Clubworld Travel owner Delia Aston said she was delighted to sponsor the festival.

she added: “It’s an absolute honour to sponsor the Linenfields Festival, especially as one of our Clubworld shops is in the heart of Banbridge and we like to support local initiatives.

“There’s already a great buzz around the town and we look forward to the concerts in August.”

Mr Causby meanwhile, welcomed Clubworld’s involvement, emphasised council support for the festival and looked forward to its economic and community benefits.

“Linenfields is a fantastic showcase for Banbridge.,” he said. “ It’s a huge event in the calendar for the year and it’s very welcome that Clubworld Travel, a local company, is supporting this local event, alongside the council.

“Events like this cannot survive without local support.

“Events like this are great for the local economy and of course the community spirit in the area.”
