Speeding at Dromore

On his way to a meeting in Dublin a 47-year-old man broke the speed limit on the A1 carriageway at Dromore.

James Press, Finaghy Park North, Belfast, was fined £100 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for excess speed on September 11 last year.

He was also given three points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that he was detected travelling at 73mph in a 60mph zone on the A1 carriageway at Dromore.

His solicitor said this happened on the stretch of road where the limit changes from 60mph to 70mph.

He added that the defendant was on the way to Dublin for a meeting.
