Songs of Praise at Loughbrickland Presbyterian

Loughbrickland will once again resound to voices singing in praiseof the Lord this Sunday evening, when the members of King Solomon's Rising Star R.B.P. No. 402 host their annual Songs of Praise in Loughbrickland Presbyterian Church at 7.00pm.

Over the past ten years this event has has proved to be one of the most popular in the local church calendar, with a mix of traditional and modern hymns and praise songs being the norm.

King Solomon’s Rising Star R.B.P. No. 402 are part of the worldwide Royal Black Institution, which is firmly based on Holy Scripture.

Members of the Institution are charged with living their life as a true Christian, and one aspect of this is through the public worship of God, giving thanks for the blessings which He has bestowed, and helping those who are less.

A preceptory spokesman said that the Songs of Praise, “ encapsulates all of these characteristics, because as well as praising the King of Kings we will also be donating the collection to the British Heart Foundation.”

The spokesman went on to say that, “heart disease does not make any distinction on the grounds of religion, age or class, as it can effect anyone, and so by donating the collection to this worthy cause we hope that we can aid the entire community.” The British Heart Foundation is the nation’s heart charity and are the largest independentfunder of cardiovascular research.

The Preceptory spokesman added that “in recent years the members of the Preceptory have raised in excess of £10,000 for charitable causes including the Southern Area Hospice, Diabetes UK, Kiwoko Hospital Uganda, the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, TinyLife, and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Additional musical items will be provided by a special choir made up of folk from a number of local churches. At the conclusion of the service there will be a light supper served in the church hall.
