The band brought the unmistakable sound of the Merseybeat to the town with a free concert featuring classics covering the complete Beatles catalogue, from the early mop top era of I Wanna Hold Your Hand and She Loves You through the psychedelic period of Sgt Pepper right up to the final curtain call of Let it Be.

The Classic Beatles, who originate from Co Wicklow, have been performing for the past 20 years.

The band have experienced Beatlemania for themselves.

They said: “We played at The International Convention in Liverpool a few years in a row and that was as close as it could have come for us. Beatle fans queued up for a long time to get autographs and chat -We were even groped a few times! I think we lost a few Ringo’s in the rush!”
