There was no role for the Deputy Mayor Councillor Catherine Seeley as Lord Mayor Darryn Causby represented the council in Armagh and Banbridge, while councillors Jonathan Buckley and Phil Moutray laid the wreaths in Portadown and Lurgan respectively.

In a statement released prior to the weekend, Sinn Fein said Ms Seeley had not been invited to any Remembrance events.

“Deputy Mayor Councillor Catherine Seeley hasn’t received any invitation to attend any events regarding Remembrance Sunday.

“Nonetheless, Sinn Féin remain open to engaging, as we have done in previous years, with any organisation in relation to remembrance. It remains our view that remembrance events should be inclusive events, where everyone feels welcome.”

Mr Buckley said, “Remembrance Service is not about one individual but about remembering all those who have fallen.”
