Simpson welcomes new Tesco store

DUP MP David Simpson has welcomed the opening of a new £38 million Tesco store in Banbridge.

Mr Simpson was asked to assist in the cutting of the ribbon following his involvement in helping secure the investment.

Speaking following the grand opening David Simpson MP said, “£38 million investment, 252 new jobs and an expansion at their existing store within the town centre is a fantastic news story for any town within Northern Ireland in this current financial climate.

“I am delighted that Tesco’s have committed to the town of Banbridge and were willing to invest in such a superstore.

“I would congratulate the management of Tesco, the staff on the ground and all those who were involved in the process. I would also congratulate the people of Banbridge who lobbied hard for this investment.

“I am delighted to have played a role in securing this investment and as Member of Parliament for the area it is my duty to assist in attracting investment, and tackling unemployment.

“The opening of the new Tesco superstore does exactly this and I believe it will be a catalyst for other such Investment in the Banbridge area.”
