On December 13, the MP will be sitting out on behalf of the Donard School in Banbridge. He will also be holding sit-outs in Lurgan on December 19 on behalf of Ceara School and a day later in Portadown to boost the Mandaville Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.

Speaking ahead of the Banbridge sit-out, Mr Simpson said: “My annual Christmas sit-outs are among the most enjoyable of any of the things that I get to do as a MP. They allow me to meet with people from all kinds of backgrounds and I enjoy the banter even if I do end up getting tackled about all kinds of issues. But it is also an opportunity to once again witness the people of Upper Bann at their best, as they give to others.”

“Each and every year of my sit-outs I have been genuinely touched by the response of the people of Upper Bann. Every year without fail in Banbridge, people form right across the community divide, older people who have very little themselves and young people who stop to take the time to think of others, have all given so much and have shown the warmth and generosity that characterises our people.

“As we prepare to remember the coming into the world of God’s greatest gift to humankind, I have every confidence that the people of Upper Bann will again show just what makes them so special.”
