Simpson in bed push challenge

UPPER Bann MP David Simpson is taking to his bed for a couple of days - but he won’t be resting under the covers.

The politician will instead be pushing the bed for 30 miles around his constituency to raise funds for a special therapy chair for the Mandeville Cancer Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.

Starting at Lurgan Hospital, the bed push will take him to Banbridge via Waringstown and on to Scarva, Gilford and Portadown, ending on Saturday, September 8.

“It’s a wonderful unit and a very worthy cause,” said Mr Simpson, who will be accompanied on the ardous journey by his DUP Assembly members, councillors, staff and friends. “I did a similar trek back in 2009 for ‘Help for Heroes’ for which constituents gave generously, with over £12,000 raised for the cause.”

Anyone who would like to contribute can do so through the three DUP consitutency offices at Rathfriland Street, Banbridge; Thomas Street, Portadown; and High Street, Lurgan.
