Sharon is runner-up in Carer of the Year awards

BANBRIDGE woman Sharon Steele, who works as senior care assistant at Lisnisky Care Home in Portadown, has been named runner-up at the ‘Funeral Services NI Carer of the Year 2011’ Awards.

The inaugural event took place in the Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick, and was attended by Health Minister Edwin Poots, with the judging panel featuring a number of independent representatives from related professions.

General manager of Funeral Services Northern Ireland, Beverley Brown, said, “We decided to create the ‘Carer of the Year’ awards to reward carers for their invaluable work. The judges had a tough job on their hands as we were inundated with entries and every carer was deserving of the award in so many ways.”
