Seen urinating against wall and was abusive to police

When he was seen urinating against a wall outside a bar in Lurgan a 24-year-old man became abusive towards police who arrived on the scene.

Martin O’Hagan, whose address was given as Old Fort Lodge, Craigavon, admitted disorderly behaviour and indecent behaviour on June 25 this year.

Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday that at 1.20am outside the Courthouse bar the defendant was seen urinating against a wall.

He tried to walk away from police and then told them he had been pouring out a container but no container was found.

O’Hagan started shouting and swearing and was arrested for disorderly behaviour.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said O’Hagan’s record involved alcohol and he had recently been disqualified from driving.

He had previous offences.

A solicitor said that her client would not think that alcohol was an issue with him.

She added that on this occasion he had been out celebrating with a friend and too much alcohol was on board.

He would apologise for his behaviour.

Judge Bates said it was getting to the stage where suspended sentences may be involved and some sort of report would be required.

He adjourned the case until July 27 for a short sentence report to see if the defendant was suitable for probation or community service.

Remanding O’Hagan on his own bail of £200 he told him that his involvement with alcohol was leading to him getting into trouble.
