Seal rescued on Portrush Strand

Exploris Aquarium have come up to the North Coast again today (Wednesday) to rescue their 29th Seal pup of the season. The pup was picked up DOE rangers from Portrush Strand.

Only a matter of a few weeks ago a starving four week old grey seal pup separated from her mother and close to death was rescued in Portstewart over Christmas.

Thanks to Exploris the pup is recovering well.

Little Ness is happily gulping down feeds of fish and putting on weight under the watchful eye of staff at the Seal Sanctuary in the Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry, Co Down.

Had Ness not been recovered by a Northern Conservation Team Ranger on December 30 she faced certain death, according to Exploris Senior Aquarist, Tania Singleton.

Luckily for the little pup on Portrush Strand today it is now in safe hands.
