Managing Director Scott Hamilton’s website, MyCarNeedsA.com has just secured £400,000 of further investment - after raising £1.5million since the company was launched in October 2014.

The new website allows car owners to log on and search a network of moderated and approved service providers in order to find the best company to carry out any repairs on their vehicle.

Garages then bid for their work, before car owners select the most suitable quote - based on cost, services offered or previous customer feedback.

Scott, who runs the website from Portadown along with his wife and operations manager, Alison, said: “We know how much people research online nowadays before committing to a purchase, which has results in the huge growth of comparison sites.

“It struck me that there were no such sites for consumers to compare trusted alternatives for vehicle repairs.”

Scott and Alison spent five years in England prior to setting up the site - before the two came up with the idea of MyCarNeedsA.com

“We had to decide whether to set up in England or at home,” said Mr Hamilton, “and both decided we wanted our own business to be a Northern Ireland business, and decided to move back. The business now has eight employees but we are planning to double that through 2016.”

Mycarneedsa.com has already received over 70,000 visits from car owners, and over 3,000 automotive service providers have signed up to the service. Funding has been raised through a combination of corporate and UK private investors, such as private investors firm Halo.
