School extension is welcomed

Sinn Féin Councillor Brendan Curran has welcomed the news that Donard School will now get its £1.8m classroom extension.

Cllr Curran said, “There was disappointment in March when the project was delayed as a result of Westminster budget cuts reducing the funds available to Education for building programmes.

“At the time the Education Minister John O’ Dowd said he would work to secure funds for the project and he has now done so.

“This investment and the new £5m build for St Mary’s Primary School, along with the construction of the new bus station in Banbridge, will be a welcome boost to the construction industry.”
