Scarva woman Eileen passes away

Former nurse Eileen Nicholl (nee Greenway) passed away, recently at her home at Old Mill Road, Scarva.

Eileen, mother of nine, was the dearly loved wife of the late David Samuel Nicholl.

The youngest daughter of the late William John and Mabel Elizabeth Greenaway. She predeceased her four siblings Bill, Tom, Dorrie and Gladys.

Eileen worked for many years as an auxiliary nurse in Crozier House and Spelga House until her retirement.

She was brought up at Old Mill Road by her grandmother Mrs Greenaway from the age of three, with her siblings, after the death of her mother.

After they married David and Eileen moved to Lisnagonnel, where she brought up nine children John, Mervyn, Eric, Norman, Cyril, Trevor, James Winston, Maurice and Adrian.

In 1966 they moved to ‘The Hill’ Legananny Road, Loughbrickland and in 2004 moved back to a new bungalow at Old Mill Road, Scarva where she lived for 11 years.

Eileen, the last of her generation, was a wonderful cook, brilliant baker, jam maker and knitter.

She was the centre of her family.

Eileen had a great sense of humour, always a laugh and making fun.

She had an infectious personality. She had the most amazing blue eyes, warm heart and a loving smile.

Eileen was loved by all who knew her and she was loved and adored by her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces and her many many friends.

Eileen was a wonderful carer, great neighbour and friend. The funeral took place from her home at Old Mill Road on Thursday to Scarva Presbyterian Churchyard.
