The delegation that included the principal, Ms Heather Lindsay met with Mervyn Storey MLA, Chair of the Education Committee, David Simpson MP, Sydney Anderson MLA and Stephen Moutray MLA to discuss the cuts.

Scarva PS is expected to lose up to £5000 if the changes get the go ahead.

The DUP MP and MLAs said, “What we see before us is the Board penalising Scarva PS for their prudent use of school funds. Scarva PS is set to loose £5,000. This is outrageous.

“The Board have also rubbed salt into the wounds by asking for retrospective payment. We step into a new financial year to ask a school to repay £5,000 which they earmarked for additional teaching staff, and extracurricular activities. It is scandalous

“Scarva PS is the life blood of what is a vibrant village with a close knit community. To remove funding in this manner would have a detrimental impact on the children of the area.”
