Scarva alcohol concern expressed

Councillor Jim McElroy has expressed his concern in relation to the consumption of alcohol at the July 13th Demonstration held in Scarva.

Speaking at Banbridge District Council’s Leisure and Development Committee meeting, Councillor McElroy said he was particularly concerned as drinkers had openly brought alcohol
in the Demesne,

The comments came after the Director of Leisure and Development, in response to Councillor John Hanna, said that the Sham Fight Committee may be able to apply for funding towards
specific event aids.

However, Councillor Marie Hamilton stated that, in her opinion, Scarva has received a fair and equal amount of assistance from the council resulting in it being one of the nicest villages
in the province.
