Mr Anderson said he has been liaising with the Housing Executive to voice his concerns about the hedges causing health and safety issues.

He said: “In recent weeks I have been contacted by residents of Church View Villas relating to the hedges at this location. The hedges which stretch along the front of Church View Villas, Stramore Road are causing a number of health and safety problems.

“At one particular point there is a road sign which cannot be properly seen by road users due to the overgrowth of branches, also poor condition fencing is holding the hedge in position and is ready to collapse.

As such this is a safety concern because fencing and hedging will undoubtedly fall on the roadway in the near future, thus endangering road users. Another issue of concern is the pedestrian exit from Church View Villas onto Stramore Road which has an obstructed sight line that is also very dangerous.”

Mr Anderson added: “Obviously there are a range of problems relating to the hedges and fencing at this location and I am currently liaising with the NI Housing Executive to hopefully get a resolution to these safety issues. I will continue to lobby in the days ahead in an effort to secure a positive resolution for the residents of Church View Villas.”
