The Banbridge Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) worked in partnership with Southern Regional College Banbridge campus, the PSNI, SELB and AllstateNI to deliver a Young Passengers And Drivers (YPAD) session to students.

Students currently involved in Public Services, Media and Health & Social Care course participated in three interactive workshops before watching the unique film made locally about the consequences of a young driver being distracted by the passenger.

The YPAD session was also made available to the Special Needs Group.

Since September 2013, Banbridge PCSP has worked with all six post-primary establishments in the District and raised awareness about safer passenger and driver behaviours through twenty one YPAD sessions with around 500 local Year 12 students as well as providing a valuable engagement opportunity for the local police, the SELB and private sector company AllstateNI.

Banbridge PCSP also secured funding in November 2013 from the criminal seized assets (ARCS) fund made available via the Department of Justice, and used it to support four Enhanced YPAD events delivered in partnership with the NI Fire and Rescue Service, the PSNI and a survivor of a car crash. These events directly engaged with over 500 young passengers and drivers in Years 13 and 14.
