Royal Wedding on the big screen

LOCAL people are being urged to support a Royal Wedding celebration in Ballynahnich Baptist Church which will, at the same time, raise money for the work of the charity, Habitat for Humanity.

Siobhan McCartney is helping organise the event on behalf of the charity which her daughter Abi is joining this summer as part of a house-building team in Ethiopia.

“Ballynahinch Baptist Church has offered to host our Royal Wedding Celebration, during which we will be showing the wedding live on our big screen,” said Siobhan. “Tea, coffee and shortbread will be served on arrival and a buffet lunch after the ceremony is included.

“We hope that guests will wear the last outfit they wore to a wedding (or similar) and we intend joining in with the congregation in hymn singing.”

Siobhan is also hoping to organise a schools competition to ‘design the wedding cake’ which will engage families in the area.

“We are contacting Clarence House and hope to have a letter back from them in time to display on the day,” she added, “so we are hoping for as much support as possible from Royal well-wishers.”
