Red carpet premiere for movie star pupils

PUPILS at Moyallon Primary School have launched their own DVD entitled, 'Moyallon at Moneypenny's'.

The educational film has been jointly funded by Banbridge District Council and Craigavon Borough Council and depicts the life of the lockkeeper and his family over 100 years ago.

Children played the key roles and re-enacted daily life along the canal as it would have been experienced by their counterparts in the Victorian era.

The first public screening of the DVD was well attended by a large crowd of parents who were delighted to be supporting their ‘movie star’ children as they made their screen debut.

And, in keeping with a movie premiere experience, the pupils of P4 all dressed like superstars and walked down a long red carpet as the audience clapped and cheered.

Representing Banbridge District Council was Councillor Joan Baird who said she enjoyed the film and was delighted to see that some of the area’s local heritage had been preserved through the DVD which in turn could now be used to educate future school groups about the history of the Newry Canal.

Copies, priced at 5 each, are available for purchase by contacting the school.
