Rathfriland girl has a heart for charity

Rathfriland girl Jayne Weir, who is a former pupil of Banbridge High School, has fundraised for the local charity Children’s Heart Beat Trust, raising £200.

Jayne sold charity wrist-bands and also raffle tickets for a draw which was conducted recently by local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson at her Rathfriland Street Constituency Office.

“Jayne has put so much effort into her fund-raising and is to be commended for her initiative,” said Mrs Dobson.

“Alongside her mum Michelle she has worked so hard to put together some terrific prizes, including a gorgeous hamper.

“I know and have worked closely with the members of the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

“They too work extremely hard to help people, making a fantastic difference to the lives of vulnerable children and their families across Northern Ireland.

“I was honoured to draw the winning raffle tickets and on Jayne’s behalf would like to thank everyone who supported her, including the local businesses in the town who were very generous.

“Well done Jayne, you have made a real difference to the lives of children who are deserving of all our love and support and I know this money will go a long way to helping them.”

The Children’s Heartbeat Trust support children and young people affected by heart diseases and their families.

They have also been at the fore-front of the campaign to retain children’s heart surgery in Northern Ireland.
