Queen’s Nursing award for Ardboe woman

Sadie Campbell, a district nurse in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, received the award from the Queen’s Nursing Institute at a ceremony in London.

She was awarded this prestigious title due to the ground-breaking work that she has undertaken within nursing in the care of frail older people, chronic disease management and end of life care.

The title ‘Queen’s Nurse’ is only awarded to community nurses who have demonstrated a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Sadie said she was delighted to have received the award.

“I am really honoured that I have been chosen as my patients have been through so much in their lives. I will be dedicating this award to the community nurses in the Magherafelt integrated team who are my colleagues and who give so much of themselves to help the people they care for - it’s really for them,” she said.

Olive MacLeod, Director of Nursing and User Experience in the Trust congratulated Sadie on her award.

She said the Ardboe woman’s success demonstrates how community nurses take on extra work and responsibility for the benefit of their patients.

“The Queen’s Nurse title is a great tribute to Sadie for her hard work, passion and determination,” she added.
