Pupils get transfer results

Almost five thousand pupils received letters through the post on Saturday notifying them of their place at post primary schools.

Eighty-nine per cent received a place in their First Preference school and 41% received a place in a grammar school.

A North Eastern Education and Library Board spokesperson said: “The Board’s Open Enrolment/Transfer section provided an out of hours’ helpline for parents who did not receive their notification letter.”

The spokesperson added: “If a parent feels that a school has not applied, or correctly applied its criteria in refusing their child a place, they have a right of appeal to an Independent Tribunal.”

Any parent who wishes to appeal should write, by the closing date specified, to: The Clerk of the Appeal Tribunal, c/o NEELB, County Hall, 182 Galgorm Road, Ballymena, BT42 1HN.
