PSNI make appeal for more care over
gorse fires

Local police are warning the public of the danger of starting grass or gorse fires following the recent spell of dry weather.

E District Crime Prevention Officer, Michelle Wilson said: “Grass and gorse fires have the potential to cause widespread damage to the environment and harm to wildlife, as well as threatening homes and businesses.

“The risks to firefighters engaged in dealing with fires and the consequences of tying up crucial resources that might be needed elsewhere should not be underestimated.”
