£6,500 oil and diesel theft

THIEVES have made off with some 8,000 litres of heating oil and diesel, worth about £6,500, from a Dromore quarry.

Banbridge police are investigating the overnight theft from the quarry at Lagangreen Road.

Sometime between 9pm on Friday, July 6 and 7.45am on Saturday, the thieves entered the quarry and used an on-site JCB to remove security boulders from the entrance.

They then stole an almost full tank of heating oil and removed several thousand litres of red diesel from various locations in the quarry.

Police want to hear from anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area overnight July 6/7, anyone offered fuel at a reduced price or anyone with information; the number to call is 0845 600 8000.
