E District Crime Prevention Officer, Lisa Sherman explained: “At this time of year many people are storing their valuable garden equipment and tools away and you should make sure these items are as secure as those stored in your house.

“Well positioned external lighting can go a long way to detering intruders.

“Keep your shed in good condition and fit a closed shackle padlock to the door. Fittings should be bolted through the door and any screws concealed. Fit meshes or grilles to the windows and invest in an alarm.
