Prizes presented on Children’s Day at Raloo

ANOTHER Sunday School season came to an end with the annual Children’s Day service held at Raloo Non Subscribing Presbyterian Church.

Minister of Raloo, Rev Dr John W Nelson welcomed everyone, praising the work of the children for their hard work throughout the year.

There were readings from Brennan Wallace and Nicole McDowell (Daniel in the lions’ den); ‘Words from Proverbs’ from John Mackey and Rhianna Mehaffey; prayers from Katy Barham and Andrew McCann, and a poem (‘The Good Samaritan’) by Katy, Abi and Will Barham and Brennan Wallace.

The Children’s Choir sang “Up Times, Down Times”.

The collection was lifted by Rhianna Mehaffey and Ryan McDowell.

Dr Nelson handed out certificates for work done at the competitions, as well as prizes for attendance.

The Cameron Cup, for the person making the greatest contribution at Sunday School was won this year by Jonny Barry.

The accompanist for the service was Thomasina Hall.

Dr Nelson extended thanks to the singers, readers, collectors and everyone who had contributed to the service. He also thanked the Sunday School superintendent Sharon Haggan and her team of helpers; adding that there was a lot going on at Sunday School and their work was very much appreciated.

While Sunday saw the end of Sunday School activity until the start of September, the young people were reminded that the regular services continue each week and Raloo, and their presence would be most welcome.
