Singer Shane Lynch of Irish boyband Boyzone has teamed up with two businessmen behind ‘The Elk & Clipper’ concept.

It recently opened in Portadown and plans are in place for further shops across the province.

Shane will be in Banbridge this Saturday evening to help launch the business where men can have their crowning glory styled in surroundings that reflect the Gentleman’s Club of the early 20th century. It will have a bar, but simply for décor, as drink will not be on sale, as such.

Explaining how Shane got involved with The Elk & Clipper co-owner Dwaine Smyth who also runs The Meat Cleaver in Portadown, said: “I met Shane when he was a judge at the Portadown’s Got Talent contest along with myself.

“We got chatting and he really liked what we were doing, it’s a really quirky concept and that’s just his style.

“We had a few drinks and it went from there - he’s now fully on board.”

While Dwaine will be focusing on the running of the business, co-owner Michael Dowell will be behind the hairdressing side of things. The barbers will be open six days a week closing on Mondays.
