Police need the public’s help to catch thugs

POLICE need help from the public to catch those responsible for the burglary.

That’s the message from local DUP representatives who have appealed for anyone who might have seen something suspicious to go to the PSNI.

Both Councillor Junior McCrum and Sydney Anderson MLA said: “This was a despicable home invasion and robbery that left a senior citizen badly traumatised.

“Those who broke in under cover of darkness didn’t have to sit as we did today with a lady reduced to tears as a result of the fear and shock that was visited upon her by these criminals.

“After the lady contacted us, the DUP office in Banbridge has been in touch with the Housing Executive following this heinous attack on this defenceless senior citizen with a view to ensuring that the home is secured once again.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen these two individuals on that night to come forward to the police with any information that might help to put them behind bars where they belong.

“I would also issue a call for people to keep a close eye on and look out for elderly neighbours or family members who are especially vulnerable to such thugs.”
