Recycling centre open to vans

In a statement, posted on social media, Council confirmed it will take permitted waste from all registered commercial and householder vans.

“All registered commercial and householder vans (with the current permitted waste types), will be accepted from Tuesday, June 2,” reads the statement.

“This will allow for the disposal of general residual waste, garden organic waste and cardboard.

“The household recycling centres that are currently open are: Armagh, Banbridge, Lurgan, Portadown, Dromore, Keady.”

The centres at Armagh, Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown are open 10am-6pm Monday – Friday and Saturday 8am to noon.

The recycling centres at Dromore and Keady are open Thursday and Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturday 8am to noon.

Council has also said that Saturday opening hours are now available to the general public and reminded users that last admission is 15 minutes before the centres close.

All commercial users must be registered appropriately.

“Vouchers already held will be honoured and additional vouchers can be purchased via telephone payments and collection only,” reads the statement.

“Telephone 0300 0300 900 for further information.”

Meanwhile, independent councillor, Paul Berry, had called on council to reopen Tandragee’s amenity site.

“Tandragee amenity site needs opened up,” said Cllr Berry.

“Now that the four main sites are running smoothly and thankfully COVID-19 cases are decreasing, it is time to have the smaller sites open to the local rate payer.

“I’ve made my view known last week and this morning to the Director so I am confident of progress soon.”
