Historic ‘virtual’ Council meeting tonight
This will be the first meeting of council since lockdown measures were introduced in March.
The rules allowing council meetings to be held remotely were introduced by the Department for Communities on April 30 this year and have allowed meetings to be held in this manner since May 1.

Hide AdSpeaking ahead of the first virtual meeting, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Councillor Mealla Campbell said chairing the meeting remotely is a challenge she is “looking forward to”.
“This is a first for us as a council and like many other organisations we have had to adapt and find new ways of working in response to this crisis,” said the Lord Mayor.
“It certainly will be a new challenge chairing a full council meeting remotely but it is a challenge I’m looking forward to.
“The response to the pandemic has been the main priority for us as a local authority, and it will continue to be during the weeks and months ahead.
“I want to thank all the council officers for the work they have done to make this happen.”
The meeting, which is due to begin at 6.30pm, can be viewed from the comfort of your own home here
