Eggs-tra special Easter in store

OLYMPIC-themed sports and arts will be at the heart of some eggs-tra special Easter activities for 5-12 year olds.

Taking place between Wednesday 11 and Friday 13 April as part of this year’s Easter Activity Programme and organised by Banbridge District Council in conjunction with the Active Communities Programme and Banbridge District Arts Committee, this year’s programme has been specially developed to celebrate arts and sports in the run up to the London 2012 Games.

Delivered by experienced coaches and tutors, the selection of sports and arts courses will aim to promote the Olympic values of respect and friendship, enabling children and young people to have great fun, meet new friends, learn new skills and develop new interests.

Among the sports courses on offer are angling, dance and multi sports including archery, football, racquet sports and volleyball. Arts activities include Plasticine Sports Figures, Design your own Olympic medal, Big Banner Project, Go for Gold and Silver Stars courses. The various courses will be held in Banbridge Leisure Centre, Dromore Community Centre and the F.E. McWilliam Gallery and Studio.

All sports and dance courses will be delivered by professional coaches from Active Communities, a Sport Northern Ireland lottery funded initiative that aims to increase participation in sport and physical recreation in Northern Ireland.

Full details of courses and venues are available in the Easter Activity Programme, available from most council facilities. For further information including details on how to book or to receive a copy of the programme, contact the council’s Leisure and Development Department on 4066 0605.

All courses must be booked by Wednesday 4 April 2012. Early booking is essential as places on each course are limited.
